The key decision
Choose one role and two classes to compare. Test control comfort and group responsibilities before committing to long-term gear.
Start with what you want to do
First decide what most sessions will look like: relaxed solo play, dungeons with friends or PvP. Then choose whether you prefer fighting close to the enemy, keeping your distance or watching the party. That narrows the choice more effectively than a single high-damage video.
Also name one thing you dislike: frequent target changes, tracking many effects or being responsible for the group’s pace. Treat it as something to test, not an automatic reason to reject a class.
The eight original classes at a glance
The official presentation describes these identities. Ranger/Marksman refers here to the ranged archer class.
- Gladiator — area damage.
- Templar — tank.
- Assassin — precise melee combat.
- Ranger / Marksman — ranged combat.
- Sorcerer — magic burst.
- Spiritmaster — solo-oriented identity.
- Cleric — healing and damage.
- Chanter — party support.
Agree on responsibilities with your group
If you are starting with a regular group, discuss expectations before choosing characters. Who wants to lead? Who enjoys responding to other players’ problems? Who prefers focusing on their own target? A support label alone does not explain every responsibility.
Leave room for learning. Someone interested in tanking does not need to know every route already. A useful first plan gives each person a task for the next dungeon rather than demanding mastery of the entire game.
Compare two classes with the same questions
When you can try both classes, use similar camera and key settings. Do not judge a developed character against a fresh one solely by kill speed. Record observations after ordinary combat and after a situation that required stopping an attack to react.
- Can I find my basic attacks and emergency action without searching?
- Do I understand why I ran out of resources or available actions?
- Am I watching the fight or mainly staring at my action bar?
- Do I still want to practise this class after a failed attempt?
Check the guide’s region and class roster
NC announced Global Advanced Access beginning September 30 and a planned October 5, 2026 launch. This is a different context from older KR material.
Korea’s July update introduced Brawler. That does not establish its availability in Global. When following a guide, check its region, date and your client’s character selection screen.
Save a first build you can actually reproduce
In the builder, select your class, mode and region. Record the skills you actually have, a simple sequence and one condition for interrupting it. Distinguish target equipment from owned equipment in the description.
If two classes remain equally attractive, choose the one whose basic rhythm feels better. Your observations across several sessions say more about comfort than a ranking without a patch, gear level or author experience. Comparing actual strength requires separate evidence from the current client.
